VPX Redline Review

VPX Redline Fat Burner

When it comes to fat burners / energy drinks, VPX Redline is widely known, and recognized as one of the more potent, kick-your-@$$-in-high-gear products. It's an all in one thermogenic energy drink that not only helps to shed some unwanted fat, but also boosts energy levels for even more intense workouts. According to the over-hyped advertising of VPX:

Check out this freaky scientific VPX breakthrough: RED LINE™: is the only matrix ever developed to shred fat through the shivering response in the body. By shivering the body burns huge amounts of stored body fat for energy in an effort to keep the body warm. That's not all! In addition to shivering, you'll also be sweating up a thermogenic storm. The combined mechanisms of these two processes results in unparalleled fat loss!

While the advertising messages sounds a little hyped, the Redline fat burner itself lives up to hype. Just take a look at the hundreds of  VPX Redline user review and feedback we've received so far. At the same time, if you've used VPX Redline, feel free to leave your feedback on our review section as well.

VPX Redline Thermogenic Energy Drink

VPX Redline comes mainly in 5 sub-lines of products, which include the VPX Redline liquid, Redline RTD (ready to drink), Redline capsules, a Redline princess that targets female consumers, and VPX Redline Xtreme which contains several additional ingredients compared to the original version. This review will mainly look at the liquid VPX Redline, and the Redline RTD.

First up, the ingredients. Below we list the ingredients of Redline and Redline RTD. As you'll see, the listed ingredients are very similar.

VPX Redline Nutrition Facts:

-Green Tea
-5-hydroxy-L-tryptop
-CAMP
-Vinpocetine
-Yohimbine HCL --

As you can see from the list of ingredients, there's very little difference between the two, other than the fact that one is a concentrated liquid, while the other is a ready-to-drink product.

Like most other products on the market, VPX Redline does not say how much of each ingredient is contained in the mix - after all, it is their "proprietary" formula. Caffeine, as in most fat burners and various energy drinks, always plays an important role, and it is no different for VPX Redline. While we don't know how much caffeine there is in Redline, we can venture a guess and say that there's probably around 250mg or so in a serving. There are several sources of caffeine in VPX: caffeine citrate, caffeine anhydrous, yerba mate, and green tea.

Of all the ingredients in the proprietary blend, there are 4 sources of caffeine. So you can be sure that there's plenty of caffeine in Redline to get you jacked. The amount of caffeine in it is probably close to drinking 3 cups of coffee in one shot - keep in mind, we don't know for sure, and this is simply a guesstimate. If you have caffeine sensitivities, you should not use Redline.

Evodiamine is a major alkaloidal principle of Evodia fruits, which has been shown to reduce fat uptake in mouse studies. It is believed that its mechanism works similar to that of capsaicin from red chili peppers, but it does not have the spicy taste of chili peppers. Chinese literature refers to Evodia fruits as a "hot nature" herb. At this point, however, studies have been done on mice, showing that Evodiamine helps in fighting obesity [1]. I'm unaware of any studies that have been performed on human subjects.

This study evaluated the effectiveness of evodiamine in preventing obesity in male mice. Evodiamine or a placebo was fed to mice for 12 days. They found that the perirenal fat (around the kidney) weight became significantly lower than in the control group. When evodiamine was supplemented for 21 days, the body weight, perirenal fat weight, epididymal fat weight, the levels of serum free fatty acid, total lipids in the liver, triglyceride in the liver, and cholesterol level in the liver were significantly reduced as compared with the control diet group. They concluded that evodiamine mimics the characteristic anti-obese effects induced by capsaicin. Evodiamine would induce heat loss and heat production at the same time and dissipate food energy, preventing the accumulation of perivisceral fat and the body weight increase. [1]

Guggulsterone - Guggul is an extract of the guggul tree Commiphora mukul, which is found in India, and Pakistan. It has been used over over 2000 years in ayurvedic medicine. Guggul is widely studied, and known to reduce cholesterol levels. But it is also commonly used in many diet pills and fat burners as a weight loss ingredient.

Yohimbe is a tree that grows in Africa, and the natives there have used the crude bark and purified compound to enhance sexual desire and performance. Yohimbe has been used for centuries as an aphrodisiac. It has even been smoked as a hallucinogen. Nowadays, Yohimbe bark extract is mostly used to treat impotence for men and women. Yohimbe is also used for weight loss in fat burners and diet pills, however, not to the extent that it is used to treat impotence.

VPX Redline Clinical Study

Every once awhile I run across a clinical study done on some specific supplement or diet pill (these are published in peer reviewed journals), and when that happens, I get a little ecstatic. Because it's not often that you find real studies that are backed up with real scientific evidence and published in peer reviewed journals in an industry where supplement manufacturers routinely cite non-substantiated studies to backup their outrageous claims.

In the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, which is a peer reviewed publication, a VPX Redline study was published titled: "Examination of a pre-exercise high energy drink on exercise performance".

Examination of a pre-exercise high energy drink on exercise performance

Department of Health and Exercise Science, The College of New Jersey, Ewing, NJ 08628-0718, USA

This randomized, double blind study evaluated the effect of a pre-exercise high energy drink (VPX Redline) on reaction time and anaerobic power in competitive strength/power athletes. 12 male strength athletes, average age 21 with average height of 179.8cm, weighing 88kg with 17.6% average body fat underwent 2 testing sessions.

The subjects were given either 120ml of VPX Redline or 120ml of a placebo, and completed a 4 question survey after resting for 10 minutes, prior to beginning exercise. The subjects then performed a 2 minute quickness and reaction test using the Makoto testing device, and then a 20 second Wingate Anaerobic Power test. After a 10 minute rest, the subjects repeated the testing sequence, and after another 10 minute rest, they performed a third testing sequence.

The study results showed significant difference in reaction performance between the Redline group versus the control group. The subjects feeling of energy were significantly higher in the VPX redline group compared to the control group. The study also noted trends of increased alertness and decreased fatigue in the energy drink group compared to placebo. [2]

VPX Redline is not an energy drink that is to be taken lightly. The suggested dose for VPX redline liquid is 5ml, and for the RTD is 1/2 a can. As always, I would recommend starting with just half of the manufacturer suggested dose starting with 2.5ml of VPX Redline, or a 1/4 can of Redline RTD. Test your tolerance before taking the full recommended dosage.
